For new buyers: T/T (telegraphic transfer) 30% deposit on purchase order, 70% balance against copy of Bill of Lading. For established buyers: Letter of Credit (LC at sight) accepted.

100% advance payment required before shipment is non-standard and should be a red flag when dealing with an unknown supplier.

What is the typical lead time for a FCL shipment?

From deposit payment to FOB: 21–35 days. This includes lot preparation (5–10 days), pre-shipment sample approval (5–7 days), container booking and stuffing (5–10 days), and documentation (3–5 days).

Transit from Belawan: ~25–35 days to Europe; ~20–28 days to US West Coast; ~10–18 days to East/South Asia.

How do I request a sample?

Email [email protected] or use the sample request form at greencoffee.willkinsales.com. Specify: origin, grade, processing method, and your shipping address.

Pricing & Ports
What is the FOB price of Gayo Arabica in 2026?

Indicative FOB Belawan prices, June 2026:

Gayo Washed Grade 1: USD 3.80–4.50/kg  ·  Natural Grade 1: USD 4.50–6.00/kg  ·  Honey Grade 1: USD 4.20–5.00/kg  ·  Organic Washed Grade 1: USD 4.50–5.50/kg

Mandheling Wet-Hulled Grade 1: USD 3.60–4.20/kg. Prices vary by volume and market conditions.

What is the FOB price of Lampung Robusta in 2026?

Indicative prices, June 2026: Grade 1 EK1: USD 2.50–2.80/kg FOB Panjang or Tanjung Priok. Grade 2: USD 2.20–2.50/kg.

Lampung Robusta is priced below Vietnam Robusta at comparable grades — a value opportunity for espresso blend buyers.

What is FOB Belawan?

FOB Belawan = Free on Board at the Port of Belawan, Medan, North Sumatra. It is the primary export port for Sumatran Arabica. FOB means the seller delivers goods loaded onto the vessel — the buyer bears freight, insurance, and risk from that point.

For Lampung Robusta, the equivalent ports are FOB Panjang (Bandar Lampung) or FOB Tanjung Priok (Jakarta).

Grades & Quality
What is SNI Grade 1 for green coffee?

SNI 01-2907-2008 is Indonesia's national green coffee standard. Grade 1: max 11 defects per 300g, max 12.5% moisture. Grade 2: max 25 defects. Grade 3: max 44 defects.

Always specify SNI Grade 1 in your purchase order — "export grade" without a number is ambiguous and can mean Grade 2 or below.

What is EK1 grade for Indonesian Robusta?

EK1 = Expor Kualitas 1 (Export Quality 1) — the premium Robusta export grade, equivalent to SNI Grade 1. Max 11 defects per 300g, max 12.5% moisture. Used in premium espresso blends and Italian commercial espresso. Lampung Robusta Grade 1 EK1 is the standard grade for export to EU, Japan, and South Korea.

What is a GrainPro liner and why is it required?

GrainPro is a hermetically sealed polypropylene liner placed inside a 60 kg jute bag before filling. It prevents moisture transmission and oxygen exposure during ocean transit (3–6 weeks).

For Indonesian wet-hulled Arabica (12–13.5% moisture), GrainPro liners are essential to prevent mold and fermentation damage. Always specify "60 kg jute with GrainPro inner liner" in your purchase order.

Origins & Processing
What is the difference between Gayo and Mandheling coffee?

Gayo (Central Aceh, 1,200–1,700m): Available washed, natural, honey. SCA 84–89. Clean, bright, floral/citrus. Best for specialty single-origin.

Mandheling (North Sumatra, 1,000–1,500m): Wet-hulled only. SCA 80–85. Heavy body, earthy, herbal, low acidity. Best for dark roasts and commercial blends.

What is Giling Basah (wet-hulling)?

Giling Basah = wet-hulling. Indonesia's unique processing method: cherry is pulped, partially dried, then the parchment is removed at 35–45% moisture (much higher than elsewhere), then re-dried to export standard (12–13.5%).

Result: heavy body, low acidity, earthy/herbal complexity. This profile cannot be replicated in other origins — it requires Indonesia's climate and infrastructure.

What is the harvest season for Gayo coffee?

Main harvest: October–January. Secondary harvest: May–June (smaller volume). Best buying window for fresh crop: December–March.

Mandheling main harvest: April–August. Best buying window: May–September.

What is the best Indonesian coffee for espresso blends?

Lampung Robusta Grade 1 EK1 (20–40% of blend) for crema, body, and cost efficiency. Gayo Arabica Washed Grade 1 (60–80%) for brightness and cleanliness in third-wave blends. Mandheling wet-hulled Arabica for heavy body in dark-roast commercial espresso.

Export Documents
What export documents does an Indonesian green coffee shipment require?

Standard set (all shipments): (1) Commercial Invoice, (2) Packing List, (3) Bill of Lading, (4) Certificate of Origin / KADIN, (5) Phytosanitary Certificate / BARANTAN, (6) Export Declaration (PEB / Customs).

Additional by market: Health Certificate (EU, AU, JP); Fumigation Certificate (AU, NZ mandatory); Organic Certificate (if certified lot).

What is the HS code for green coffee?

0901.11.00 — Coffee, not roasted, not decaffeinated (standard green coffee). 0901.12.00 — Coffee, not roasted, decaffeinated. Used on Commercial Invoice, B/L, and COO.

What is a Certificate of Origin (COO) and why does it matter?

Issued by KADIN (Indonesian Chamber of Commerce). Certifies that goods originated in Indonesia. Required for: GSP tariff preferences (US, EU, Japan), ASEAN-FTA reduced duties, and ICO documentation.

Without a COO, your import duty may be significantly higher. Always include it in your required document list.

What is a Phytosanitary Certificate?

Issued by BARANTAN (Indonesia's Agricultural Quarantine Agency). Certifies the shipment is free from pests and diseases. Mandatory for green coffee imports in virtually all countries. Covers the specific lot, container number, and net weight.

Logistics & Containers
How many bags fit in a 20-ft container of green coffee?

20-ft standard (floor-loaded, 60 kg jute bags): ~275 bags = ~16.5 MT net. 40-ft standard: ~400 bags = ~24 MT net. 40-ft High Cube: ~420–440 bags = ~25–26 MT net.

What is the difference between LCL and FCL?

LCL (Less than Container Load): your cargo shares a container. Higher per-kg freight cost. Suitable for 1–5 MT. Risk of cross-contamination with other cargo.

FCL (Full Container Load): you book the entire container. Lower per-kg freight cost. Preferred for volumes above 5 MT. No cross-contamination risk.

Supplier Verification
Is Willkin Green Coffee a legitimate Indonesian coffee exporter?

Yes. Willkin Green Coffee is the export brand of PT Global Wills Sejahtera — a registered Indonesian PT company (est. 2020) holding an APE export license from Indonesia's Ministry of Trade. Part of Bepah Group (PT Bepah Karya Indonesia), coffee sourcing in Sumatra since 2012.

Company credentials are publicly available at willkingreencoffee.com/proof-center/. NIB verifiable at oss.go.id.

How do I verify an Indonesian green coffee supplier?

Check: (1) NIB on oss.go.id, (2) APE export license from Ministry of Trade, (3) company name on Commercial Invoice matches B/L shipper, (4) physical address in Indonesia verifiable via Google Maps, (5) bank account in company legal name — not a personal account.

A reputable supplier will provide all of these without hesitation. Resistance to sharing company documents is a significant red flag.
